The Exhibits

AMES ROOM - In one corner of the room you become larger than life, in the other you are shrunk down! Experience how a person walking back or forth either grows or shrinks before your very eyes in this incredible room of illusions. To the viewers, it looks like an ordinary room, but it is actually cleverly distorted so that visitors experience an amazing visual illusion.

BEUCHET CHAIR ILLUSION - It is unbelievable how the perceived size of a person depends on the context suggested by the surrounding objects. Explore the laws of perception and play with roles and size ratios by simply sitting on the so-called Beuchet chair! Challenge your photography creativity!

CLONE TABLE - This illusion invites you to sit down with yourself. What appears to be a large round table is actually a circular clip, which reflects a full circle in two mirrors at an angle of 60 degrees. At the point of sitting down you will be surrounded by 5 of your clones! Who is the better player?!

HEAD ON THE PLATE - Have you always wanted somebody’s "head on a plate?" Now you can make your wish come true. Experience the illusion of a "Head on the Plate" and of a hidden body...but don’t worry, nobody gets hurt; it's all just an illusion.

HOLLOW FACE ILLUSION - The need to recognize faces is so deeply rooted in us that we will fill any hollow space that we are looking at just to see the face. The fascination here is that, while looking at the face, no matter from which angle, it seems to follow you. This is based on our inborn knowledge that a face is convex and cannot be concave.

HOLOGRAMS - These magical images create 3D illusions - some of which we encounter every day in all kinds of shapes and forms as e.g. in their simplified form on bank notes or credit cards. The Museum of Illusions holds a quite respectable collection of various holograms that disappear without reason, change their motif or pop out of the picture.

INFINITY ROOM - Fun and wonder never ends in the Infinity Room! This multisensory experience creates the optical illusion of infinite space.

INFINITY WELL - There are so many things in life that we tend to compare with a bottomless pit even though we have never actually seen one. Well, now's your chance. Get dragged into the unknown!

KALEIDOSCOPE - Oh, such a wonderful, colorful and continuously changing world of shapes and colors! At the Museum of Illusions the psychedelic patterns are created exclusively by the visitors, as they will be reflected in the endless little mirrors. Go and kaleidoscope-away!

OPTICAL ILLUSIONS - Bewildering images can play tricks on you, confusing your eyes and brain. These visual illusions are just a reminder that our senses are imperfect and our perception of the world is often distorted. Come and check out a collection of optical illusions with many Op art exhibits!

REVERSED ROOM - Are you ready to radically change your view of the world? How about for 90 degrees? Have photos taken of incredible poses! The only limit is your imagination. Let your fantasies run wild while getting the perfect Instagram shot!

SWAP NOSES - Stand on the opposite side of a mirror and keep your faces straight. Now look and see how different you look like with another nose.

SYMMETRY ROOM - Do you love the reflection of yourself? Enter the amazing Symmetry Room and explore the wonders of symmetrical reflection. Place yourself in playful positions and capture unique photos.

TILTED ROOM - This room is certainly a brain basher and will shake your faith in the laws of physics, as your brain and eyes make unconscious inferences about whether you are standing on a flat or a sloped surface. You will witness things that are physically impossible – balls rolling upwards, water flowing uphill! The Titled Room must be experienced because visually it is not recognizable or visible. Enter a new dimension of senses. Prepare to be astounded. Nobody can believe it until they have seen it with their own eyes!

VORTEX TUNNEL - When was the last time someone made your head spin round so that you felt like the ground was pulled away under your feet? You are sure to be spinning...nonetheless you know that the bridge is actually not moving. You can't control the reaction of your body. It feels like love, right? Or maybe just another illusion? In both cases, it is important to let yourself go, so don’t be afraid to leave everything you know behind and immerse yourself in the illusion of the Vortex Tunnel. The only one of its kind in this part of the world, this experience will drive you mad and make it seem nearly impossible for you to bring your body in balance through the rotating cylinder – though you are all the time on a completely stable and flat surface. And yes – you are allowed to scream and laugh!
